VÖH is the umbrella association of nine regional adult education associations in Austria. It offers service and expertise to its member organisations, approx. 270 adult education centres all over Austria.

These centres offer a variety of subjects from IT to personal and social competences. Languages are the most popular and most frequently taught subjects. Infact, you can learn more than 60 different languages at Austrian Volkshochschulen! Focus is laid on the compentence of the trainers, transparency and quality of the courses as well as new methods such as the work with the European Language Portfolio or forms of blended learning.

Center für berufsbezogene Sprachen

Center for Vocationally oriented Language Learning is an Austrian national ministry institution with the commitment of coordinating, planning and servicing in-service training for foreign language teachers at Upper Secondary level in the Vocational and Technical Sectors. As an advisor to national curriculum design committees it is the national switchboard for „language education and the business world“ and a catalyst to national and European education policies and initiatives. CEBS facilitates international teacher exchange and teacher education projects. It serves as the Ministry‘s examination centre for international language exams. CEBS also provides an in-service teacher development course portfolio that is based on teacher demand and institutional development needs provides.
