DROFoLTA Detecting and Removing Obstacles to Foreign Language Teaching Aproad

The European Commission sees it as an essential part of language training, that any language teacher gets sufficient experience in the use of the target language and gains competence and experience in dealing with the culture of the countries where the target language is spoken. It is considered as a great benefit for non native speakers of the language taught, that they have lived in the country for a longer period of time.
The DROFoLTA project was based on a questionnaire to get an overview of the obstacles that influence language trainers in their mobility of teaching abroad.
Even though there was far less resonance than expected the responses received gave a good overview of some of the typical obstacles to the mobility of foreign language teachers in Europe such as:

- Problems at the school sector for getting leave
- Recognition of qualifications - diplomas and awards
- Different working conditions for the same job
