Franz Mittendorfer
Franz Mittendorfer is a teacher of English and has been a member of the ICC Executive Board since 2001. As Head of the English Department at the CEBS (Center für berufsbezogene Sprachen), a national Austrian teacher development and support centre, he is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of language teacher education and of developing a course portfolio that is based on teacher demand and the needs for continuous institutional development.
Priority areas include
- harmonising national educational initiatives with European standards and concepts,
- developing a comprehensive national framework or educational standards and quality assurance,
- establishing and maintaining educational projects with national and international partners,
- integrating content and language learning (CLIL),
- facilitating the development of multilingual competences of language learners and language teachers,
- applying ICT to modern language learning,
- evaluating student performance through external/international examinations.
He has participated in various international projects, such as ICC in VOLL, and has co-authored a textbook series for English at Vocational Schools and a multi-media training package for teachers and learners of languages for professional purposes.
He is co-author of the Austrian National Language Portfolio 15+ (for young adults) and heads the National Commission für the Development of Standards for English in Upper Secondary Vocational Education.
Besides his regular teaching at the College for Occupations in the Service Industries in Saalfelden, Austria, he has given presentations and run workshops on numerous national and international events.
