Our Executive Board

Rob Williams, President
Rob has been working in language education since 1983 as a teacher, teacher trainer, materials writer and assessor. Since 1998 he has also been involved in cross cultural traning. He is currently a principal lecturer at the University of Westminster teaching on the MA TESOL and MA International Liaison and Communication. As well as this he is the director of the UoW/Ministry of Defence Languages Examinations Board, running mediation examinations at 4 levels in up to 47 different languages. He is a passionate believer in the need for improved communication as a means to greater social understanding and feels that maintaining high quality language instruction combined with intercultural competence goes a long way to achieving this.
Within the ICC Rob's main focus is on structural management and quality assurance.

Martin Beck, director of Mondiale Testing, Switzerland, has been involved in language education for more than 20 years. Ten years ago he set up MONDIALE-Testing, a full-service language testing organization with many international customers. His main focus on the board will be to raise awareness of the ICC through the quality of its services and activities.

As ICC Treasurer, Nick's main focus on board will be the ICC financial structure.

Dr. Alberto Materassi is the founder of Italian’s first private language school Centro Linguistico Italiano Dante Alighieri (CLIDA) ' specializing in teaching the Italian language and culture to foreigners, students and professionals. CLIDA is a family run organisation with highly qualified staff of whom each speaks at least three languages to accommodate a wide variety of students from over 150 nationalities attending our courses. His main focus on the board will be EUROLTA and the Quality Assurance Scheme.

Stig Myklebust, Folkeuniversitetet, Norway
Stig Myklebust has held the position as national coordinator for foreign languages at the Norwegian Folkeuniversitetet since 1995. He is also the general manager of Mesterfagskolen, an institution which prepares students for qualifying examinations leading up to master craftsman's certificates. Before joining Folkeuniversitetet, Myklebust taught English and modern history at sixth form colleges and regional high schools in Norway. He also served on the ICC Board from 1999 - 2004.
Within the ICC Stig's main focus is on structural management and quality assurance.

Dr. Claudia Schuhbeck - PhD in Education at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, Austria. For the past ten years she has developed innovative multicultural programs for faculty and students at universities in different parts of the world, using the latest technology to increase the effectivity in learning. Her research has taken her to different parts of Europe, Asia and Latin America. She is currently a researcher and international liaison officer for the Institute of Technology for Education and European Competence Systems as well as the Head of the Language Department at Concordia University in Mexico, implementing the EUROLTA Learning approach to the language teacher training program.
EUROLTA and eLearning are Claudia's main areas of interest for the ICC.

Sue Wood works for Flying Teachers in Zürich. She currently spends most of her time teaching and developing materials for English for Medical Purposes. EUROLTA and the Quality Assurance Scheme are her main areas of interest for the ICC.
