the international language association

The National Centre for Languages was formed in 2003 through the merger of the Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research and the Languages National Training Organisation. The creation of the new organisation was announced as part of the Government’s National Languages Strategy. It plays a key role in managing national initiatives in support of language capability and the implementation of the National Strategy as well as offering a wide range of services for teachers, learners, researchers, users and providers of language services and the business community. CILT is based in London but operates throughout the United Kingdom, in partnership with its sister organisations CILT Cymru, Northern Ireland CILT and Scottish CILT. It pursues its objectives via a series of collaborative networks
